The surface under moving light

This view is built only from real photographs of the work, each lit from a different angle, so you can move the light yourself and watch the real surface answer. It is being captured in the studio and will appear here. Until then we show nothing rather than an imitation.

I work into the unknown with each layer — beeswax, damar resin, and pigment fused with the torch, and the heat decides where the white settles against the aqua, where it pools thick or thins to near-transparency. I'm always adding new layers, yet reaching down to excavate what's already there — smoothing out the high points, revealing what the wax has held.
