Ships of Sky
A bank of cloud sits low over a dark shoreline, the whole picture held in warm ochre, rose and umber with almost no blue in it. Two feet by four. Juvonen's other weather paintings keep a recognisable sky; this one is close enough to monochrome that the cloud mass reads as landform before it reads as air, and the title is pointing at that confusion rather than at anything depicted. There are no ships in it. The scattered pale marks along the shore are the only incident he allows.
