Storm Clouds Over The Islands
Four feet across, and the most fully resolved of Juvonen's weather paintings. Cumulus towers catch gold along their upper edges while the undersides stay slate and violet; below, a dark island runs the width of the picture with a scatter of shore lights at its foot. He paints the sky thickly and the water almost flat, so the whole surface interest sits in the upper two thirds. The lights are the only human mark and they are four or five strokes long.
