Stormy Isle
Heavy grey cloud fills the upper two thirds, an island sits low and dark on the horizon, and a pale cold light opens behind it. There is no warm colour anywhere in this one — no gold, no rose — which makes it the bleakest of the small studies and the most convincing as actual weather. Juvonen keeps the whole thing in a narrow tonal band and resists the sunset he could easily have added.
