The Laughing Elephant
An elephant's head and raised trunk take the lower two thirds, and a figure in green is inverted on the crown of its skull, legs in the air. The elephant is worked in soft greys with the ear translucent at its edge and deep creases around the eye; the acrobat is a few flat colours. Juvonen runs this composition repeatedly — a person upside down on a large animal that has not noticed — and the elephant is the version where the animal looks most as though it might be in on it.
