Triple in the Pink
Five feet across and the most expensive work Wade has here. Dark firs stand in a row against a field of rose and violet sky, with a lift tower and a triple chair crossing at the upper right, its riders reduced to three small dark shapes. The pink is not naturalistic and is not apologised for. Everything in the picture is either near-black or high-key — she has removed the middle values entirely, which is why it reads from across a room.
