Exposed tideflat in the foreground running to a low wooded headland, the water pulled back to a thin band. Nine by twelve. The flat is painted in warm ochre and umber against the cold blue of what water is left, and the horizon sits low so the mud gets two thirds of the picture. An unglamorous subject given the full canvas.
