Black Backed Stilt
A stilt stands on one impossibly thin leg on a turned base of blue-green patinated bronze, the other leg drawn up into the body, the black-and-white plumage rendered in two flat tones. The bird is eleven inches tall and the leg supporting it is barely thicker than wire — a real casting problem solved without disguising it. Duzan gives the base a rippled surface like still water seen from above, so the pedestal is doing part of the describing.
