Balancing Bear
A bear cub rears back on its haunches with both forepaws lifted, caught at the moment before it either topples or does not. Duzan patinates the coat near-black and lets warm gold break through at the muzzle, the pads and the inside of the ears — the places light would actually find. At nine inches it is a hand-sized piece that has been modelled with the same attention as her large work, and the whole weight of it is carried on a diagonal that should not hold.
