I painted this from the overlook where Rich Passage opens before you — that particular hour when the water holds the last of the golden light and the sky still can't decide between day and night. The bare trees on the left, the dark line of conifers, the quiet figure below: this is the kind of place I want to leave behind, a record of something that steadies you.
