Web of Stars
Web of Stars is inspired by the feeling I had as a child reading the poem “Wynken, Blynken, and Nod.” The idea of sailing in a boat in the sky, among the stars, was such a wonderful fantasy. The framework of this piece is made from heat-bent bamboo canes, detailed with knotless netted waxed linen thread studded with beads fused by the artist. The boat is made of low-fired, slumped, and cold-worked cobalt blue glass, with a cast paper and crosscut bamboo lace-like design, ornamented with knotless netted thread. The boat hangs from hand-forged steel hooks.
