Abra Cadbra
Acrylic on linen. A surreal stack — a cow's head supporting a magician's hat, a rabbit emerging from the hat. Juvonen builds the image through gestural mark-making and chromatic accident, the impossible composition treated as straightforward fact. The title's pun ('abra cadabra' / 'cadbra') and the menagerie are inseparable: the painting earns its strangeness by refusing to apologize for it.
