I build this one in a narrow vertical stack — gray and cream, layer pressed against layer, the wax holding every pit and bubble the torch left behind. I'm noticing where one tone meets another, how the cool gray and warm ivory negotiate that edge. Somewhere in the smoothing and the burning-in, the aspen trunks just arrived.
