Blue House on the Horizon
A pale blue-roofed house stands alone on the horizon line, and everything else in the picture is divided between two ways of painting. Above, the sky is blended smooth and thin — cream to grey to a single small light — with almost no brushwork visible. Below, the field is built from hundreds of short dabs of cobalt and ultramarine packed edge to edge. Sivek runs that collision through her whole body of work and it is what makes these pictures hold: an atmosphere you could fall into, over a surface you could not.
