Cascade Snowfall
A snowfield running back to a white peak, bare red-brown scrub in the foreground, dark firs grouped at the right. Sixteen by twenty-two inches. The snow carries almost all the picture's value range in a narrow band of blue-greys, and the only saturated colour is the rust of the winter brush — which is exactly the proportion that country offers in February.
