Forest Garden
I worked in watercolor here, letting the soft greens and yellows breathe through the trees the way light actually moves through a forest — unhurried, diffuse. A figure rests quietly among the rocks, and somewhere beyond the canopy, birds move through the open air; I wanted this to be that moment of stillness a person finds when the world outside grows too loud. A handwritten poem by Jacqulin Tovis accompanies the image, because some places ask to be held in more than one kind of language. Watercolor on paper · 5.5 × 19 in. · 2026
