Free Spirits
I work in layers — beeswax, damar resin, and pigment fused with a propane torch — always moving into the unknown, where the heat decides how each color settles. In Free Spirits, the wax fell into vertical rhythms across three panels: greens, then golds and reds, then the cool quiet of blue-gray — fields of color stacked like seasons, each one meeting the next at its own horizon. I kept reaching down through those layers, smoothing the high points, excavating something that feels like standing inside a grove and looking up. Encaustic on cradled wood panel · 18 × 65 in · 2026
