Lower Pond At Bloedel Reserve

Jane Wallis

Still water under overhanging green, the far bank reflected almost perfectly, twelve inches square. Bloedel is a former estate garden on Bainbridge and its ponds are deliberately mirror-flat. Wallis paints the reflection with the same weight as the bank, so the picture is nearly symmetrical about its own waterline and only the reeds break it.
