Rainy Day on First Avenue
Seattle in the wet: a bus and cars stopped at a light, umbrellas on the pavement, everything doubled and smeared in the road surface. Nine by twelve. Wallis paints the reflections longer and looser than the objects casting them, so the bottom half of the picture is where all the movement is and the top half stands still.
