Ochre and umber bluffs on both sides of a broad river, painted in flat planes with the strata readable as bands, and between them water so still it doubles the whole scene. The palette is warmer and drier than anything else she has here — this is east-of-the-mountains country. The title asks for something and the painting is built to be memorised: nothing moves, nothing is obscured.
