Square Stones
Alder, maple, Baltic birch, and oak — four woods selected for distinct grain and tone, assembled into a 30 × 30 × 3 inch relief finished with Osmo satin oil. The square format holds the geological logic of Kyong's stone series: geometric, pressured, formed over time from layered material. Her wood stones are made from wood — the transformation of material into another material's register is the subject of the work.
