I painted this small oil as a moment to step away from the noise — a quiet path through the trees, water just visible through the branches, two dogs ahead on the trail. The figure in the red hat is simply walking, watching, present. This is the kind of unhurried place I return to again and again, hoping to leave something of it behind.
