I work into the unknown — and here the wax moved in sweeping loops and scattered drops across a gray field, settling exactly where it chose. I was noticing where one tone meets another, smoothing out the high points, building layer on layer until this quiet monochromatic field emerged. The excavation and the adding are the same gesture, just in white. Encaustic on cradled wood panel. 6 × 18 in. 2026.
