McConnell carves into hemlock, then applies leather dye across the incised surface. The scratched geometry reads as both drawing and relief, pigment pooling in grooves to create shallow spatial illusion on a shallow wooden plane.
Mixed media on salvaged cedar. A vertical rectangular panel in dark wood. Two forms: a small pale lime-green circle positioned in the upper third, a large arch in pale turquoise fading to cream at the base below. Each form holds its space without competing. McConnell’s formal logic — Calder and Tobey cited as influences — is visible here: the smaller element above, the larger below, the horizontal grain running behind both. $1,200. International shipping available.
