“Between Form And Atmosphere” Featuring Artwork by Brooke Borcherding And Ericka Wolf
For the month of May, JG Gallery is presenting a two-artist exhibition featuring the works of Brooke Borcherding and Ericka Wolf, particularly popular gallery artists. The show explores contemporary landscapes through abstract interpretations of natural phenomena. Both artists invite the viewer to experience the interplay between structured urban forms and the ethereal qualities of nature.
Borcherding presents cityscapes transformed by her distinctive “broken color” technique. She paints from life, often en plein air, capturing the essence of her subjects and then transforming the work into larger studio pieces. By contrast, Wolf, inspired by color field painters, aims to create expressions that seem uncomplicated but are deeply reflective of her subjects. She utilizes encaustic and oil media to convey the transient beauty of skies and seascapes, emphasizing luminous expressions of color over detailed illustration.
Show runs May 2nd - 27th

Ericka Wolf, of Seattle, invites the viewer to enter the painting, slow down, unclench and access the soft, blurry consciousness of waking up. ]
Andy McConnell, also of Seattle creates art that has evolved from the dust, muck and din of construction sites. Scribing trim became carving forms; gluing up counter slabs led to making large, stable carving blanks; finishing blackened steel developed into staining split or carved cedar.

Not bound by the strictures of her formal training, Stephanie imparts her intuitive vision onto the canvas, frequently capturing home life with children, nature, and local places. Each brushstroke is an homage to shared memories, making every piece a personal narrative as well as a collective memento.
Stephanie's artwork is stylized in a way that's uniquely unpretentious and strikingly direct. The charm of her art is its universal language of the heart and home.
