The Path Along Duck Creek
A creek runs into the picture between mossed banks, and the water is the one passage Guild keeps pale and continuous while the forest either side fragments into colour. Five feet across. The composition is a corridor — trunks closing overhead, the eye pulled along the channel — and the abstraction gets denser the further from the water you look.
