A raven glides left across a heavily worked ground of smoke-stained paper laid in overlapping rectangles, arcs and part-circles drawn through it. The bird is the only fully resolved thing in the picture; everything behind it is texture and geometry. The blue-black of the plumage against the warm sepia of the smoke-stained paper is the whole colour event.
