Inner Flame
A rounded steel form, dark and slightly domed, with an opening cut into its face and a radiating centre set deep inside it. Seventeen inches. The exterior is smooth and closed; the interior is where all the incident is. Cristalli spent decades making things that had to work — gates, railings, hardware — and this is her making pure form instead, an object whose only function is to hold something warm out of sight.
