A night garden: pale flower heads, ferns and seed pods massed against a dark ground, with a moon and scattered white starbursts above. Two by three feet. Ferron's decades as a quilter show in the construction — this is pieced, not painted, and the composition works the way a quilt top does, by value and repetition across a field rather than by any single focus. Nothing recedes.
