Bear with Salmon
A green bear stands above two red salmon laid on yellow, with a blue panel and a third fish at the right. The bear is flat, frontal and unmodelled; the fish are drawn with a heavy red outline. Le Van says she means to catch both the essence of bearness and the particularity of individuals, and this one is nearly all essence — the shape of a bear rather than any bear.
