Emergence
A wasp nest disc split from top to bottom by a dark vertical fissure, framed against a pale ground. The nest is intact everywhere except that one line. Whether something has broken out or the structure has simply failed is left entirely open, and the title leans one way without insisting. Mann's material choices carry their own life cycle: this nest was occupied, and then it was not.
