Tidal Dreams
Mixed media collage. An underwater composition that includes chartreuse and ochre saguaro cactus forms, tall navy vertical plant shapes, a burgundy sea creature in the lower register — Ferron collapses marine and desert environments deliberately, in the tradition of Rousseau’s impossible jungles. Speckled gray-green background reads as either sand or turbid water. This ambiguity between ecosystems is characteristic of her practice.
